Hannah Covered Bridge and the rapids on Thomas Creek

As today was a nice day to go for a drive, I decided to go to the Hannah Covered Bridge east of Scio. While not as well maintained as the Shimanek Covered Bridge, it was still nice to see.

Driving through Linn County, I came upon several old barns. While each of them needed some repair, they had the kind of character that you don't see in most new barns.

I don't often see two old farm building this close to each other.

On the way back, I stopped at the unincorporated town of Jordan. it really wasn't much of anything other than a few farms. Along the south side is Thomas Creek. Apparently there used to be a covered bridge across the creek at this spot, but it has been replaced with a more modern bridge. Just upstream is a series of rapids coming from what looks to be the remnants of an old dam.

I didn't have time to take a picture on the bridge from outside my car.

As a kayaker who has kayaked part of the Rouge River in Southern Oregon, it definitely looks like a fun run. For any of you kayakers out there that want to see a video, click here:

It isn't a long video, but it does the job.
